We have updated every room in the house at some point (some need updating again). We didn't take photos of most of the updates, but here are a few that made the camera rolls.

When we moved into the house the basement was mostly finished but needed some work. The floor tiles were the peel and stick type that was popping and causing the kids to slip and fall. I had to pull down the paneling used to cover the heating ducts on the ceiling to get enough material to complete the walls since the paneling that was there was no longer available in stores. To replace all the paneling was more work and money that I wanted to spend. Since the ceiling grid is nailed to the face of the paneling I would have had to take large portions of the ceiling down to replace the paneling that was there - not fun. I wrapped the poles in oak and and replaced the tiles with vinyl tile with multi-colored accents. (circa 1999)

We partially remodeled the kitchen, which means we pulled off the wallpaper, repainted, re-laminated the counters and installed oak flooring. I used a manual floor nailer to install this floor, which meant all the power necessary to drive the nail home came from swinging a heavy hammer - no air compressor involved. By the end of the project I could barely lift my arm. (circa 2000)

I installed 3/4" oak floors in the living room after the addition was complete. It met up with the oak floor I installed in the kitchen a few years before the addition. For the kitchen I used a manual nailer, which was just about the most exhausting project I ever worked. For the living room I bought a pneumatic nailer which was much easier. The tiles in the recessed area in front of the door are left over from the master bath. (circa 2007)
