These are some small short term projects I've made.

John's Sport Card Frame
John's Sport Card Frame

This isn't so much a project I made, but rather assembled. My father-in-law had a collection of an estimated 236,000 sports and entertainment collectors' cards. I spent a significant chunk of time roughly sorting them out for sale after he passed. I kept a few of John's favorite players and put them in a frame I bought off of Amazon with a picture of John in the middle. We have it hanging in our first floor hallway. (3/2/2021)

.50 Caliber Pencil Holder
.50 Caliber Pencil Holder

A buddy I used to work with 20+ years ago gave me a bunch of .50 caliber machine gun shells to make a pencil holder. The project got back burnered, the box of shells put in storage and mostly forgotten. I ran across them recently while cleaning out the basement so I reached out to Vince for input on how he'd like to see them laid out. I built two for him (one with a shallow center for paper clips and one that full depth for more pencils) and one for me (full depth). I bought the machine gun links online (didn't know one could do that) at Vince's suggestion. I popped out the spent primer, tapped the bottom of the shell (#10-24), then build the holder out of scrap oak I had laying around in the shop. (3/4/2021)

Gina Name Plate

I was tossing a couple of computer keyboards and thought I would surprise Gina with a couple desk name plates from keys. She of course has absolutely no use for them, but it was a quick project for my own amusement. (3/5/2021)

Double Bass Rack
Double Bass Rack

Johanne needed to get her double bass off the floor. She sent me a photo of a stand and asked me if I could make one for her. The small stature made me a bit nervous since it doesn't seem like the bass is well supported but it is surprisingly stable, even on the carpet. (3/11/2021)

I imported the photo Johanne provided into Microsoft Visio and scaled it with the assumption that it had 1" dowels. I then drew out the rest of the rack and printed the profile and used it as a template for shaping the base. I also added some rubber self-seal pipe wrap insulation to prevent the rack from scratching the instrument (3/11/2021)

Parents Ramp
Parents Ramp

As my parents get older and and have a harder time getting around I offered to built a ramp in their garage. It's the longest I could build using 10' 2x6 lumber. The original plan was to leave it natural and put down non-slip strips but my mother wanted it painted white so I added sand to paint on the ramp surface instead. (8/10/2021)

Palette Shelf
Palette Shelf

Gina wanted to display this artist palette she received from Aunt Amy. This was a freestyle no-plans project for me. I attempted to mimic the curves of the palette itself. Gina wanted a purple stain though this didn't come out quite as purple as I had hoped. (11/9/2021)
